We bought a house, we bought a house, we bought a house hey hey hey!

I have been putting off this post because I know that it will probably take me a while to write. Back in September, we toyed with the idea of selling our house. We decided to put it on the market and see what happens. If it didn't sell, we thought we might be able to rent it out or wait another year and try again. We weren't really stressed about it so we called our realtor (she sold us the house) and we put it on the market. 14 days later, we had a cash offer on the table and we were in contract! It happened so fast and we really felt the Lord's hand in getting the contract. You see, we lived in a random little neighborhood that literally had no comps. That meant we really had no guidelines of what to price the house at so we just pulled a number out of the air and put it out there.Since we only lived in the house for 3.5 years, we were ready to just get out by breaking even. The thing we were most concerned about was having the house pass the appraisal since we didn't really know how they would compare it with no comps. The Lord really blessed with us when the cash offer came in which didn't require an appraisal! One month later, on October 26, we moved to an apartment in Carrollton (the city where we wanted our new house to be) until we found a house. We decided to save some money and just get a one bedroom thinking we would only be there short term. In retrospect, we made it just fine but at the time, we were kind of miserable. I forgot how much apartment living sucks. Weston's pack n play was in our closet which was in the bathroom. So, if we had to go to the bathroom after 6:30, you had to just use a little nightlight and be really quite. He woke up a few times, but we had to be so cautious.
Fast-forward to the beginning of December. We had seen almost every house in our area and we didn't like any of them. Finally, we were going to see one house and decided to check out another one while we were out. The pictures online were horrible (like a corner of a wall) but we figured we could check it. When we walked in, we both looked at each other and knew that this was our house. It was a foreclosure so everything took forever to get done (plus the fact that the copper got stolen while we were in contract). Long story short, the house needs 8 piers (they took the cost of the piers off the price of the house) and a new oven but we got a great deal. From the start of the contract, it took almost 2 months to finally close but we did it! We love the house, the neighborhood, and we really feel at home here. It's in a neighborhood called Homestead which is less than 20 minutes from my parents house. We are one block from the elementary school and one block from a little park.

We closed on Wednesday January 30 and moved in that Saturday. Our first night in, I wanted to take a bath in my new tub after a long hard day of moving. To my dismay, this is what my bath looked like.

Apparently when a house has been sitting for a long time, the sediment builds up in the water heater. We ran both the shower and the tub for over an hour and it was still coming out like this! The bad thing was that teh next day was Sunday and we were worried we would not be able to shower for church. Around 10:15, 45 minutes before church started, the water finally ran clear so we hurried up and actually made it that Sunday.
We love love love our new house and would like to invite anybody to come visit us any time. Ok, maybe not ANYBODY :)
On another note, I had to capture this moment of my boys snuggling the other day. I just love them!
