Redneck Weekend

The weekend after our anniversary, some friends invited us up to spend time in Bonham. Our friend, Casey's parents have a house with a bunch of land up there.

We drove up Friday morning and stopped at the local Wal-Mart. We may or may not have seen a few mullets and camo gear while we were shopping. After that, we had some good ol' Texas BBQ and headed up to the house. We rode some dirt bikes, four wheelers, and of course had to shoot some guns. Some of our other friends joined us that afternoon and we made a camp fire with tin foil dinners and of course, s'mores. When it was almost dark, Peter tried his had and hunting hogs (a long time dream of his). After a couple hours, he came back and didn't see as much as a squirrel move, but he is planning on trying again when it gets a little cooler outside. The next morning, we toured the property on the four wheeler and went to do some archery and shooting. We shot a 9 mm, 10 mm, 12 gauge, a 20 gauge, and an AK 47.

I pretty much sucked at shooting, but Peter was really good. We watched movies, hung out with friends, and had fun being in the 100 degree heat. The only bad part was that we still had to work and we had to cell phone service. It was stressful, and we hope to have somebody in our office next time we have to go out of town. We never get to take summer vacations, so this was a nice little "staycation". Thanks Vehars for taking us with you!

No, Peter is not the one on crutches. That is our friend, Spencer who had surgery on his Achilles because of church basketball. A little injury shouldn't get in the way of shooting guns :)

The best part of the weekend was that we got to do all the fun camping stuff, but we got to sleep inside, with air conditioning, on a bed.
